The weight of the laptop is just over 4 lbs and measures 8.5 inches x 11 inches. The age group targeted with this laptop is about 5 to 8 years of age. External AA batteries can be used which are included in the package.

Vtech Cyber Spy notebook

This notebook retails for $80 and has the ability to connect online to retrieve other games and new content from the provider Cyber Spy HQ. The theme is made with a spy agent, and has particular appeal to boys in the family. There are over 100 activities programmed into this notebook, and comes in 4 different languages ranging from English, French, German and Spanish. Kids are able to learn pronunciation as well, since it has the added feature of playing back all the voice recordings. This laptop is more advanced than the Oregon, and is targeted for 7 to 10 years of age. Although it is recommended from 6 years of age, kids at this age can find it hard to read and comprehend the content. It is heavier at 5 lbs and slightly larger at 12 inches by 8 inches. AA batteries are also included in the package. Kids are able to learn how to use a real mouse pad and also connect using USB.

Intellective Kids Desktop Computer

This looks more like a desktop computer but is worth mentioning here as it can also be classed as a educational toy. It retails from $70 and is also portable like a laptop. It is aimed at the younger age group from 5 years of age. The main feature is the teach and talk functionality which covers all the subjects from maths, spelling, music and reading the clock. There are over 70 activities but only in English. Please note that although it comes with a mouse, it does not actually function. It can be fun for kids who have not used a real pc before. However, if the child has been using a real pc, then these laptops will not provide a real experience to keep them occupied for long.

Vtech Genius Notebook

The main feature of this notebook is the phonics and animal sounds which teaches and asks the kids to repeat. Keep in mind the smaller screen, which may not appeal to customers much as a larger and brighter one. The keyboard is not qwerty, so may not teach them the correct way of typing when they eventually go to school. However, it is the lightest of the laptops at under 3 lbs, and only costs $40. The 30 activities range from maths, vocabulary, music and pronunciation. It is aimed from about 4 to 7 years of age.
