Fisher Price Laptop

Fun 2 Learn

For children around 3 years of age, the Fisher Price laptop is suitable for their learning curve. Built with a backlit LCD screen, they are able to call their own programs ranging from spelling, using both upper and lowercase letters, games such as pong and maze varieties, and watch music and sounds. Batteries are not included (3 x AA batteries), which can last up to 5 hours of use. Kids have the ability to check their own email, which is a feature not many other toy laptops have.

Some negatives of this laptop include the restricted screen tilt, which can make it difficult for children to view it while it is sitting on their laptop. Without being able to tilt fully back, they may have to put it further in front of them to view the screen, since the LCD screen has a nominal vantage angle for viewing. The use of the mouse may also prove difficult for younger kids, since some game require its use. Get your children to test it out first if possible, since the steep learning curve may put them off, and they will lose interest.

As usual, the laptop comes with many games and applications ranging from spelling, maths and memory. However, as the price of this laptop is approx $99, which is not cheap for a toy, so check that your child will not get bored quickly, since it is a small investment in their education.
